After the new coach, owners and uniform, came the new stadium. The Bucs opened Raymond James Stadium with a win over the Bears but their long pre-season road campaign caught up with them as did an increasingly-poor offense and they wound the year up at 8-8 and out of the post-season. But to be disappointed at missing the playoffs was still a new feeling for Buccaneer fans. The defense continued to impress but there was growing clamour for a change at the quarterback position.
