Signed as a free agent in 1978 after being released by the Dolphins having been arrested on drug trafficking charges. The Dolphins were awarded the Bucs' third round pick in 1979 as compensation. Played parts of three seasons on the defensive line for the Bucs starting ten games. Made eight of his starts during the 1979 NFC Championship season and had a key fumble recovery in the play-off win over Philadelphia. His son Channing played several seasons for Miami in the 2000s.
