RICHARD WILLIAMSON 4-15 Richard Williamson became the fourth head coach of the Bucs when Ray Perkins was fired with three game remaining in the 1990 season. He won his first game and was kept on for the 1991 season due in no part to the requests of the players who found his easy-going style a refreshing change from the tough line of Ray Perkins. "The good-cop, bad-cop" routine just never worked in Tampa however and it was soon evident that Williamson was out of his depth coaching at the highest level. The Bucs lost their first four games by incredibly close margins and the effect took its toll on the team. Chris Chandler and Vinny Testaverde had a running battle at quarterback that went past playing performances and the feud only ended when Chandler was cut from the team in a vain bid by the coach to save his job. It didn’t work and Williamson was on his way at the end of the 1991 season after posting a 4-15 mark as the Bucs' head coach. He had a variety of assistant coaching and co-ordinator roles after leaving Tampa Bay including stints as both the offensive co-ordinator and receivers' coach of the Carolina Panthers. He sadly passed away in 2015. Click here for a collection of pictures from his Buccaneer coaching career
