Tight end was a position where the popular vote took way too much notice of recent bias and non-NFL performances. Gronk was a big part of the Super Bowl team and scored twice in the win over the Chiefs but putting him ahead all-time in Buccaneer annals of Jimmie Giles, sorry but that is just wrong. Giles was a freak in terms of his receiving numbers with Tampa Bay and was a decent blocker too. Dave Moore gets the back-up nod on account of longevity, franchise contribution and can also take the long-snapper role as well. STARTER - JIMMIE GILES Was obtained in a trade with the Oilers that saw Houston and the Bucs swop 1st round picks in the 1978 draft. Started for the best part of nine seasons in the Buccaneer orange before being unceremoniously dumped by Leeman Bennett midway through the 1986 season. Named to the Pro Bowl four times and came to London in 2011 with the Buccaneers to act as an honorary captain and ambassador for the franchise and was selected to the Ring of Honor later that year. Still holds the franchise record with four receiving touchdowns in a single game, the memorable day in Miami in 1985. BACK-UP - DAVE MOORE A long-time fan favourite and originally played 10 seasons with the Bucs having been claimed on waivers from Miami. Became the regular starter at tight end in 1998 and only missed one start the next four seasons. Spent two seasons with Buffalo but returned to finish his career with the Bucs and was rewarded for his long NFL career by going to the 2006 Pro Bowl as a special teams' selection. Now recognised as the color commentator on Buc radio alongside Gene Deckerhoff. BACK-UP - ROB GRONKOWSKI Came out of semi-retirement to join the Bucs and Tom Brady in a trade with the Patriots during the 2020 off- season. Started every game he was healthy for in those two seasons and was a real scoring threat in the redzone as well as an above-average blocker. Scored twice in the Super Bowl win. Retired for good after the 2021 season. HONORABLE MENTIONS Leaving out Cameron Brate was tough as he had some great seasons with the Bucs in terms of numbers but he cannot beat out any of the three listed above. Ron Hall and Jackie Harris also had some nice numbers in the down years of the franchise.
