Having earned the bye week from their win in the final game of the regular season, the Buccaneers had Brad Johnson
back healthy for the arrival of the 49ers, fresh of their dramatic win the previous week against the Giants. This was a
bridge too far for San Francisco however and the Bucs jumped out to a 28-6 half-time lead and then controlled the
clock in the second half making the final result as emphatic as the performance. Brad had a pair of touchdown passes
and Mike Alstott added a pair of short-distance scores himself and then watched the defense record three interceptions
and three sacks to put the Bucs into the NFC Championship game for the third time in their history.
