Tampa Bay Buccaneers 9 Phoenix Cardinals 13Sunday 20 October 1996 at Sun Devil StadiumFOX COMMENTARY CREW Mike Breen and Bill Maas
The Bucs outgained the Cardinals and committed no turnovers, but a second-half comeback came up just short. Arizona had only three possessions in the first half, but the first two lasted over eight minutes thanks to numerous Buc penalties and resulted in a 10-0 lead. The Buc defense allowed just 66 yards and three points in the 2nd half. Mike Alstott, famously wearing a shirt with his name spelt incorrectly, notched his first career rushing TD on a one-yard dive, but Michael Husted’s extra point attempt was blocked.
