In one of the worst rainstorms to hit Tampa since the 1979 regular season finale, the Buccaneers were shut out for the second straight week as the Bears amassed 273 yards on the ground with two of their backs going over 100 yards in the process. 11 of the normal starters were out of the game injured including Jack Thompson who missed the game with a sore elbow. The adverse conditions led to over 20,000 no-shows on the day of the game and not many of the announced 36,816 crowd were still present when the game finished.
