The Bucs were amazingly just one game away from the Super Bowl. Two years after they ended a 26-game losing streak to win their first game, the Los Angeles Rams came to Tampa for the NFC Championship game for the right to play the Steelers. But this was a subject in offensive futility and the Bucs never got moving offensively at all. Doug Williams and Lee Roy Selmon both went out injured, and Tampa's best scoring chance, an apparent TD strike to Jimmie Giles, was called back for a penalty.
