| Derrick Brooks' interception Ravens Stadium, Baltimore 15 September 2002 The background The Bucs had lost their season opener under Jon Gruden a week earlier at Raymond James Stadium. Now came a potentially-difficult road game in Baltimore where the famed Raven defense was still as tough as ever to score against. So the Bucs used special teams and defense instead as the offense was held without a touchdown throughout the game. Three fieldgoals and a Karl Williams punt return, together with a safety which should have been a touchdown. The game situation It was late in the game and the Bucs were leading 18-0 so the result was not in doubt but the defense wanted a shutout. Chris Redman dropped back to pass and was intercepted by Derrick Brooks who returned it 97 yards, the second longest score in Buc history. It was the first of four games that season, including the Super Bowl, in which Brooks would score a touchdown. Click here for all the game reports, stats and pictures from Jon Gruden's first win |
