
| A huge defensive stand Tampa Stadium 4 December 1988 The background The Bucs were beginning to hear boo birds in 1988 as the novelty of Ray Perkins' dictatorship had worn off and Vinny Testaverde was on his way to throwing a record 35 interceptions in a single season. The Bucs were 3-9 and needed something special to avoid the season petering out into insignificance. And then in a low-scoring battle against the future high-flying Buffalo Bills, the Buc defense came up big when the franchise really needed it. The game situation It was 4th and goal late in the fourth quarter. The Bucs were clinging on to a 10-5 lead and the Bills were threatening to score the winning touchdown and continue their march to the AFC East title. Robb Riddick dived into the line and was met by LB Kevin Murphy in mid-air. He didn't get in for the score and the Bucs hang on to win a famous victory over a seriously good team.
