Summing up the 1976 Bucs
Mile High Stadium
13 November 1976

The background
The expansion Buccaneers were legendary for all the wrong reasons. Most notable for losing all their 14 games of course, but drafting badly, making poor personnel decisions and generally having everything that could go wrong, actually go wrong.

And the expansion draft didn't help either. The Bucs and Seahawks had no real time to prepare their selections from the cast-offs and unknowns left available to them. There were good picks of course (Dave Reavis and Mark Cotney) but also players who frankly should not have been in the NFL let alone a Buccaneer uniform.

The game situation
The Bucs were tied 10-10 in the third quarter and had missed some real chances in the game including a 25-yard FG miss by Dave Green. Tom Ramsey then threw a pick which Calvin Peterson intercepted and began to return down the left sideline for good yardage. And then his dodgy knee gave way. Peterson fell out of bounds and never played another down of pro football.
