| A debut to remember The Metrodome 11 September 2005 The background The Buccaneers used their first-round pick in 2005 on a running back, Carnell "Cadillac" Williams. They had Mike Alstott and Michael Pittman but they needed a home-run hitter for their backfield. And in his very first NFL game, he swung for the fences and put one into the cheap seats. Cadillac wound up with his shoes going into the NFL Hall of Fame with three straight 100-yard games to open his career and set the league on fire in the process. The game situation The Bucs were leading 17-13 inside the final two minutes and were trying to run out the clock after Brian Kelly had intercepted Daunte Culpepper at the Buc 20-yard line. On 3rd & 1, Williams burst through the Viking defensive line and didn't stop running until he reached the endzone. The Bucs won the game and started on a 4-0 run to open the season that led to them winning the NFC South Division title. Click here for the game reports, stats and pictures from this victory |
