| The start of something new Tampa Stadium 22 December 1996 The background The Bucs were finishing off a 6-10 season but one with a difference. Everyone in the NFL knew that the Buccaneers were a team on the rise and they had finished the season with a 4-2 bang and some impressive performances. And it was also of course the final time the old orange and white uniforms would be worn as well. The Chicago Bears were no match for Tony Dungy's team that day and it was 34-3 in the 4th quarter when Dungy called off the dogs and let the back-ups see some time against the QB passing genius that was former Gator Shane Matthews. The game situation The Bucs were leading 14-7 in the second quarter when Karl Williams fielded a punt at his own 12-yard line. And hence followed his first and the Bucs' second-ever punt return touchdown to send a delirious crowd into total rapture.
