| A new day in Tampa Bay Houlihan's Stadium 21 September 1997 The background The 1997 season was when it all turned around for the Buccaneer franchise. A 5-0 start to the season, new uniforms and the building of a new stadium next door to the Old Sombrero. And in a Florida rivalry match with Miami shown live on national TV in the States and on Channel 4 here in the UK, the Bucs showed they were for real with an awesome performance against Jimmy Johnson and Dan Marino. And the Bucs UK were there in force for this one even if I did end up with both Phil Jones and Graeme Reid leaping on top of me to celebrate this score by Warrick Dunn. The game situation It was 3rd and 29 from the Tampa 42 with just over nine minutes left in the game and the Bucs led 24-14 so the game was not totally safe. Trent Dilfer threw a screen pass to Warrick Dunn who waited for his blockers and then raced the distance to secure a 4-0 mark for the Bucs. Click here for all the game details |
