A memorable kick return
Raymond James Stadium
28 October 2001

The background
Whenever the Bucs needed a big win under Tony Dungy, they just waited for the Minnesota Vikings to come to town and the points just flowed.

But in this game, it was not the 41 points that made the headlines, but a meaningless kick return that saw one of the greatest hits in NFL history.

Todd Washington picked the ball up and started rumbling downfield where a poor Viking defender made the mistake of getting in the way.

The game situation
The Vikings had just gotten on the board but still trailed 34-8. Gary Anderson's kickoff was a squib kick and was taken by one of the Bucs' blockers, reserve offensive lineman Todd Washington. Minnesota's Fearon Wright is still wondering today why Anderson tried that and what actualy hit him because he still doesn't remember!
