Brooks seals the deal
Qualcomm Stadium
26 January 2003

The background
This was the play that ensured the Vince Lombardi Trophy was coming to Tampa Bay. Many people would have this as their top play in Buc history, but enough people in the know voted one other play just ahead of it.

The Raiders had come back from 34-3 and still had an outside chance of pulling off the greatest comeback since Lazarus. But the Buc starters were back in the game on defense and taking it seriously again. And quite rightly, it was the defensive team captain, Derrick Brooks, who was the man who sealed the deal.

The game situation
The Bucs were leading 34-21 at the two minute warning and the Raiders had 3rd & 18 from their own 29-yard line after Warren Sapp had almost recovered the game winning fumble on the previous play. Rich Gannon went over the middle for future Buc Marcus Knight, but Derrick Brooks stepped in front and took it back 44 yards for the decisive touchdown.
