Spent his first three seasons backing up Jimmie Giles at tight end before exploding onto the scene in Leeman Bennett's two-tight end offense in 1985. Ranked amongst the league leaders in receptions when his season was ended by a serious knee injury. Returned in 1986 and broke an ankle against Chicago in November 1986 and never played professionally again. Won the 1986 Ricky Bell Award given by the NFL Alumni for his off-field community work. Tried to make a comeback in 1987 but was released during training camp.
