Some alternative mid-term grades
Following on from my esteemed colleague Roy Cummings' excellent article offering merit marks and detention slips to the 2007 Buccaneers, time to offer some alternative rankings so far this season.
EXCELLENT WORK - TOP OF THE CLASS
Dave Moore on Buc Radio. Serving as a perfect foil for Gene Deckerhoff's interesting style, Dave has offered excellent insight into the Buccaneer offensive playbook, player formations and special teams tactics. And not once as he given us a "Hallelujah" as per Hardy Nickerson. Great work Dave, you are the best.
ALSO RIGHT UP THERE
The Around the Horn and PTI guys. We get the shows each evening over here in the UK - quality comments, humour and insight. Please tell the British TV companies this is how to do it.
AS FUNNY AS EVER
Ron Diaz and Ian Beckles on WDAE 620 The Sports Animal. About as politically incorrect as always and ably assisted by Darek Sharp and producer Justin Palowski. I just wish I could listen over the internet every day because you sure as hell beat the British radio jocks.
TRY AND USE LONGER SENTENCES
Martin Fennelly - great columns. Problem is. Paragraphs are too short. Most of us are paid by the line. You by the word? Still funny and insightful. All the time. Of course.
GO AND SEE THE SCHOOL NURSE
Carnell Williams, Mike Alstott, Mark Jones, Chris Simms, Luke Petitgout etc. The queue starts outside Doctor Joe Diaco's office, stretches down the hall and out into the parking lot.
A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT
The British weather for the Giants v Dolphins' game last week. Anyone would think that it always rains in London. I mean, the sun came out on June 14th for a couple of hours at least.
TRYING HARD BUT NOT QUITE GETTING THERE
My fellow writer, Darin Shaw, The Pigskin Preacher. Some nice pieces at times but trying to compare yourself to a British writer? We have Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Keats, Burns and now Stewart!
Note the inaction not in action. Guy in the No.90 shirt - was seen in class a couple of times this season. Please try and turn up for the rest of the year.
NEED TO DO BETTER
The Buccaneer Cheerleaders - I think some one-to-one extra tuition from myself is required. Please return after the rest of the class as gone home.
