The Buc defense was decimated at linebacker and safety and lost more players during the game but found enough to defeat the worst team in the NFL although the result was in doubt until late in the game. The Bucs scored on their first two drives and looked dominant before turnovers stagnated the offense until the two clinching fourth quarter drives. With the Falcons losing again, Tampa Bay took over the lead of the NFC South.
