Tampa Bay Buccaneers 16 Washington Redskins 20 Sunday 19 December 1998 at Jack Kent Cooke StadiumFOX COMMENTARY CREWSam Rosen and Jerry Glanville
It was always going to be tough to win in Washington to keep the post-season dream alive, but with the Bucs leading 16-7 early in the fourth quarter, it looked on the cards. Two Cary Blanchard fieldgoals brought the Redskins close, but then Jacquez Green fumbled a kickoff and Stephen Alexander caught the go-ahead score with 5:49 to play. Two late Tampa drives ended in Trent Dilfer interceptions and the Bucs flew home from the nation's capital needing help to make the playoffs.
