This was a nasty affair in which Hardy Nickerson got ejected and Sam Wyche allowed special teamer Curtis Buckley to start at WR to take out a cornerback's knee on the game-opening running play. Michael Husted kicked a Buc record 57-yard fieldgoal and although the Bucs outgained the Raiders 366-265 on the day, two Tampa Bay fumbles proved decisive in the end. The Raiders were held to just 17 yards on 23 carries, the lowest ever recorded by a Buccaneer defense.
