Vinny's three first-half TD passes and a dominant time of possession gave the Bucs a season-opening victory in Detroit. Wayne Haddix had the first of three interception return TDs that season and Ervin Randle's 2.5 sacks equalled his total from the previous five seasons in one game. The 17-point margin of victory tied the biggest road win in team history, New Orleans in 1981. The Bucs forced six turnovers in all and had six sacks.
