Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10 Minnesota Vikings 17Sunday 12 September 1982 at The MetrodomeCBS COMMENTARY CREWJim Kelly and John Dockery
The Bucs opened the Metrodome with a loss despite holding the Vikings to just 216 yards in total offense. Tampa Bay put together 355 yards in total offense but Minnesota blunted three Buc threats into long fieldgoal attempts. Bill Capece connected on one from 51 yards to equal the franchise record, but also missed from 48 and 50 yards. The Vikings' key score, a TD pass from Tommy Kramer to Sammy White, came about after twice the Bucs were penalised on third down plays when they had seemingly forced a Minnesota punt. Trailing 14-10 late in the game, a fumbled punt snap led to a Viking fieldgoal and an attempt for a tying TD ended when Willie Teal intercepted Doug Williams on a deflected pass.
