Bill Capece connected on one from 51 yards to equal the franchise record, but also missed from 48 and 50 yards. The Vikings' key score, a TD pass from Tommy Kramer to Sammy White, came about after twice the Bucs were penalised on third down plays when they had seemingly forced a Minnesota punt. Trailing 14-10 late in the game, a fumbled punt snap led to a Viking fieldgoal and an attempt for a tying TD ended when Willie Teal intercepted Doug Williams on a deflected pass.
