The Bucs trailed 14-6 with five minutes to play but thanks to a 73-yard, 14-play drive, they pulled to within five on Neil O'Donoghue's third fieldgoal of the game. Dana Nafziger then recovered a fumble two plays later, and Doug Williams won it with a TD strike to a leaping Larry Mucker. The Lions did move into fieldgoal range late in the game but Dewey Selmon forced a fumble that Curtis Jordan recovered and the Bucs went to 8-3 on the season.
