Team effort matches output

The Bucs had 12 reasons to go through the motions against Seattle on Sunday. Tampa Bay was 1-12 entering the game and had been eliminated from playoff contention for weeks. The Bucs were three games away from their final game of the season and playing for a head coach on the hot seat. That is why Bucs players were beaming with pride after Tampa Bay's 24-7 victory.

"Your leader kind of reflects your team and there are a lot of teams that do kind of shut it down when they are out of the playoff hunt," LB Barrett Ruud said. "We've been out of the playoff hunt for a long time and one thing we've never lacked is effort. We've had execution problems, but we've never had effort problems. It was nice to have our execution match our output in this game and put it all together."

Coach Raheem Morris credited Tampa Bay's second victory with traveling to Seattle on Friday, getting players acclimated to a different city and his team feeling comfortable prior to the game. Even though Tampa Bay is not in the playoff hunt, players are encouraged everyone is competing like they are.

"It lets everybody know that we didn't end the season last week," DL Jimmy Wilkerson said. "We are still fighting trying to win these last couple of games. That's what the coaches have been telling us to do.

"At the same time, there are still things we need to correct. We're going to go back and improve on some of those things we did wrong in this game. Losing takes it toll, but we stayed together and focused on what we had to do and we were able to win the game."

Looking ahead to 2010
The main goal of Tampa Bay is to become a better team in 2010, and most of next year's schedule has been determined. According to the "NFL Record and Fact Book," Tampa Bay will face the NFC West and AFC North next season. Tampa Bay's home games will be against St. Louis, Seattle, Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The Bucs will face Arizona, San Francisco, Baltimore and Cincinnati on the road.

Tampa Bay also will face the team with the worst record from the NFC North and NFC East. The Bucs will play Detroit at home and likely travel to Washington, which is winless in its division.
