Falcons leave with season sweep
The Bucs talked at length about their motivation to atone for their embarrassing performance at the Georgia Dome, a 56-14 loss on national television. Coach Lovie Smith said Atlanta showed up in Week 3 and Tampa Bay didn’t, vowing: “We’ll show up on Sunday.”

But with an opportunity to register their first win at home and in the division under Smith, Tampa Bay fell short again. “I don’t know if it hurts any worse, but we worked hard all week and I think guys were looking forward to this game,” right tackle Demar Dotson said. “We had one more chance to redeem ourselves, and we didn’t make up for that loss in Atlanta. We’re 1-8, so you’d think we would get tired of losing. Either we’re not good enough, or guys aren’t tired of losing enough.”

All-Pro defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, who didn’t dress at Atlanta due to a fractured left hand, failed to make an impact Sunday. McCoy posted three sacks against the Falcons last year in Tampa, but he was credited with only one tackle and zero quarterback hits as Ryan had time to fashion a 96.0 passer rating, with Atlanta going 6-for-12 on third-down conversions.

“I kind of knew what type of questions I was going to get today and I was thinking of what to say,” McCoy said. “I really wish I could come up with something to say on why it’s not happening. I don’t know, man, I just don’t know.”

Rookie tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins said the scoreboard doesn’t lie. “We’re 1-8, and it is what it is,” he said. “It’s where we are and we’ve got to accept it. We can’t run away from it, but this stuff hurts.”
