There’s a thin line between win and losses for Bucs

The Bucs have been blown out twice this season, but their other four setbacks were by a combined margin of 20 points — including a pair of overtime losses in games they led in the fourth quarter.

“This is the NFL and we’ve got to figure out ways to win the close games or you’ll be 1-6,’’ middle linebacker Mason Foster said. “We’re close, but close doesn’t count in this league. I think we’ve got the guys and the coaches to get through this, but we’re definitely being tested right now.’’

Right tackle Demar Dotson has no patience for any Tampa Bay player who isn’t up to the challenge. “Yeah, it’s tough, but they pay you a lot of money to come to work,’’ Dotson said. “If you can’t mentally get yourself ready, you need to turn your paycheck in and let somebody else do it.’’

For guard Patrick Omameh, this brutal rite of passage will pay dividends down the road. “This kind of hardship isn’t for everybody, but it’s helping us grow in a way,’’ he said. “When we do make the changes we need to make, we can look back at these growing pains as an example of what it took to get this organization where we want it to go.’’
